Clean Water and the Gospel Transform a Village in Nepal

In a remote village in Nepal, more than 1,100 people depended on a single water pump for nearly every part of their daily life.

Families in this Mahabat community constantly struggled to access clean water. Women and children often waited for hours in long lines, hoping to collect even a small amount for drinking and cooking. When they couldn’t get what they needed, families were forced to walk long distances to find water.

Without reliable access to clean water, families struggled to keep themselves and their homes clean, and waterborne illness threatened the community's health and well-being. Community members repeatedly asked local officials for additional pumps, but their requests were never fulfilled. They felt stuck, forgotten.

Water, something so basic to life, had become a daily burden.

A Partnership Forms

That began to change when our partners, the community, and local government came together to address the need. Together, they worked to install four new water pumps throughout the village so families could have reliable access to clean water to fulfill their daily needs.

This wasn’t simply outside help arriving. The community took ownership of the project, raising nearly 30% of the funding themselves and contributing their time and labor to help make it happen. Our partners worked faithfully alongside them, collaborating with the government throughout the process.

Life Begins to Change

With new taps installed, daily life in the community began to change. Families now had enough clean water for all their routines: washing clothes, cleaning dishes, bathing their children, and keeping their homes clean. Health, hygiene, and the overall environment of the village improved dramatically.

One of the most encouraging outcomes has been the community’s response to the needs of people in surrounding villages. Rather than keeping the water for themselves, many families now share it with neighbors who still struggle to access clean water.

Today, the entire Mahaut village has reliable access to clean water.

The Gospel Takes Root

Alongside the water project, our partners shared the hope of the Gospel. Through house churches and prayer gatherings, people in the village began hearing about a God who loves them. Slowly, lives began to change.

Today, 120 new believers are gathering in eight house churches, and disciples continue to multiply. People are learning about forgiveness, love, and what it means to care for their neighbors. As the Gospel continues to spread and the community shares water with others, the impact is reaching far beyond the village itself.

The Power of the Inseparable

At Venture, making the Gospel known and fighting injustice are inseparable. Together, they form the intersection where societal change begins, and generational transformation occurs.

If this Mahabat community had clean water without the Gospel, relief would be temporary. If they had the Gospel without clean water, hope would be incomplete.

Your gift to Venture always supports both—bringing hope to tough places in ways that invite lasting change.
